The polyvinyl chloride or PVC is the material most commonly used for the insulation of cables for alarm systems and security systems. Characterized by versatility, the material can meet various requirements of use. Depending on the formulation of a PVC insulation cable it can normally be used at a temperature ranging from 70 ° C to 125 ° C. The PVC used by ELAN is free of additives containing heavy metals, phthalates with low molecular weight and hazardous materials from the REACH Regulation. A further guarantee for the consumer is that the ELAN alarm cable is absolutely DEHP FREE.

PVC is the alternative to coating LSZH which is instead composed of halogen free thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers and with very low emissions of smoke in the event of exposure to heat sources (eg. Fires). The lack of halogen therefore avoids a dangerous combination of toxic gases in the event of the part of the cable exposure to flames.

The ELAN alarm PVC cables are flame retardant CONFORMING TO CEI 20-22 III (IEC 60332). This ensures the auto-off in case of fire. Also the isolation of alarm cables complies with  CEI 36762; this goes to precisely regulate the coexistence of low voltage alarm cables with power cables. In fact, the ELAN alarm cables can be installed in conduits or cable ducts with cables having marking 0.6 / 1 kV. The cables PVC alarm as well as LSZH alarm cables are available in shielded versions, not shielded twisted to BUS / RS485 connections.

The cable shield is used to protect it from external interference such as static electricity or magnetic fields produced nearby (for example a washing machine in action). The shield thus allows to attract and unload on whether these electromagnetic interference, without affecting the efficiency of the cable.

The twisted cable, normally used for telecommunications or for audio or video signals, is composed instead by individual wires that serve as magnetic fields, which should be to interfere with the wires of the other cable. The twisting of the wires makes the sign of the magnetic field components of the pair is of opposite sign, so as to autoelidersi and eliminate the problem just described.
